If JWs now believe they aren't the only ones who will be saved as the website says, then why must we go out and preach for people to come to the organization. The preaching work is useless because it directs people to the Watchtower not Jesus.

crazyhorse, there lies the paradox. While no JW would openly admit to "worshipping the GB" and I will concede that most JWs in their heart truly feel that they are worshipping Jehovah, the reality of what they preach vs. do is a problem. By the guidelines of their particular brand of faith, salvation through Jesus is pointless without alliegience to the Governing Body.

If they would just be honest with themselves (sadly, an impossible task it seems) they would realize that there is no anwer to the question I posed that won't discredit their practice and method of preaching.

The answer is, No.

All else is obfuscating detail.

Hahaha, the irony of crediting JWs with those qualities you mentioned is not lost on me, steve2. But as leaving_quietly pointed out, the goal is to at least try to get someone trapped or currently being exposed to the JWs to think, even if in the most elementary of senses.

Falcon, also bear in mind the org softened at times and used the parable of the fisherman and the dragnet to admit that many christain charities did do good in exposing some to christianity that otherwise wouldnt have been exposed.

Very true, however, on the other hand, the Watchtower Society has at times taken a more harsher stance on those who are critical or are "stumbled" by their actions in recent years.

dubbies mental gymnastics will let them avoid the full reality of it. There is no magic bullet, we need a wide array of reasoning topics, including the pointlessness of the preachimg work, to help those that want to, to get free.

We as JWs do our proselytism as we believe, but God shall provide answers to this and many other unanswered questions by mankind.

So, what is the point of trying to preach your brand of Christianity as the means to true salvation to people who are already Christian?

And why shun/DF JWs who don't feel that salvation can only be attained under such absolute conditions (alliegence to the "Faithful Slave")?

So that's it? "God will give us all the answers someday but until then let's exercise authoritative control of the lives of our members?" I'm no believer but if I were, I'd say that is a pretty insultive view of your deity.

I think I would counter with: Can you show me anywhere that says the "domestics" must eat the food distributed by that slave or else die at Armageddon?

leaving_quietly, they'd probably point you to a recent hard-liner article in a Watchtower, which has become increasingly hostile in its tone as of late.

So, by this reasoning, why are other Christian groups that run charities and assistance programs condemened by the JWs as "false religion"?

Your isolated example of a "perfect" man is just one in a million and not a typical scenario they enter regularly or even often.

Agreed. Yet this example I cited was not meant to allude to a perfect human being, but as a person who fulfills the role of "Christian" to the greatest extent possible for an "imperfect" person, which while rare, is not entirely impossible.

I actually heard a comment from a brother a couple years ago that his CO brother in law suggested that the WTS is leaning toward the idea that good hearted non-JW's could possibly survive Armageddon based on their heart condition. That we can't judge anyone since they may in fact be spared by Jehovah

Whatever that means, wallsofjericho, is that the "dividing work" is a pointless Sisyphean task. If what that CO said is reflective of the JW belief system, then why waste time trying to draw strangers into debates and arguments over such an abstract element as faith? This is the problem that arises when you deal in absolutes. Absolutes such as the "With us or against us" mentality that really makes up the framework of a high-control group like the Jehovah's Witnesses.

sir82, I would've answered the same way based on my mindset back in my kool-aid days. However, if you consider such an answer objectively, it is still making commitment to the Watchtower Society the determining factor as regards the Ransom. Saying "Jehovah is judge" doesn't remove this built-in premise to their ideology.
